The most southerly point of Devon with long summers, warm autumns and mild winters. The area is one of exceptional beauty and contrast - river estuaries, rolling hills and thatched cottages surround the lovely old towns and pretty villages and is well known for its superb local food and drink produce and green tourism initiative.

Walkers will enjoy the 60 miles of the South West Coast Path, as it winds its way up and down over cliff tops, around sheltered coves and across sandy and shingle beaches and romantic Dartmoor with its landscape of bracken and heather, looming tors and ancient hut circles intermingled with pretty villages and welcoming hostelries.

Dartmouth, carved into the banks of the beautiful River Dart, has narrow streets, overhanging medieval houses, old quays, Dartmouth Castle and breathtaking views of the river.

Ivybridge the gateway to Dartmoor and the start - or finish - of the Two Moors Way, an 102 mile trail which crosses Dartmoor to the north of Exmoor.

Kingsbridge, at the head of the Salcombe estuary - a busy market town since the 13th century with a 16th century market arcade and a lovely museum showing rural life in the South Hams.

Modbury with Georgian buildings, interesting shops and 13th Century Church lend Modbury an air of quiet elegance.

Salcombe is one of the country's prettiest sailing and fishing harbours with exotic and subtropical plants flourishing.

Totnes, on the river Dart with closely packed Elizabethan houses, medieval castle, colourful markets and a range of individual, speciality shops.
